Event Details
The Art Car Museum presents the Seventh Annual Open Call Exhibition: RECONSTRUCTION (Featuring Artist SHERRY SULLIVAN), on view December 17, 2011 through March 2, 2012. Opening Reception Saturday, December 17, 7pm-10pm. The Art Car Museums Open Call Exhibition is an annual event that both the participating artists and the Museum visitors look forward to each year. The exhibition topics assigned are purposely broad yet relevant and the artists are invited to interpret the topics however they choose. As a result, the exhibition has become a forum each year for primarily the local, but also the regional and even national art communities to visually express their political, economic and personal concerns. The topics serve only to provide a common communication thread for these visual conversations. This year the topic is Reconstruction and we expect the customary talented discussion, dramatic debate, interesting commentary and humorous dialogue from the 125 participating artists. Our featured artist this year is Sherry Sullivan. Born in 1929, Sullivan has been an artist ever since she could hold a pencil. She is a talented and prolific abstract painter always with some subject matter. Vibrant colors and intricate, elegant designs comprise her unique style. She has been an annual participant in our exhibition for many years and we are excited to be able to showcase several of her newest works. Image is "Untitled" by Sherry Sullivan, mixed media: felt markers, pencils, 16" x 12", 2011.
