20/20 Visions: Ten Years to Clarity

American Institute of Architects (AIA Houston)/Architecture Center Houston present present the exhibition Houston 20/20 Visions: Ten Years to Clarity, on view January 19, 2012 - February 24, 2012.Opening Reception Thursday January 19, 2012, 5:30 7:00pm. Houston 20/20 Visions: Ten Years to Clarity exhibits what Houstonians consider the most critical issues challenging our city today and their ideas to solve them. This exhibition coincides with the ongoing blog tenyearstoclarity.org that presents these visions from Houston citizens. The visions taken together will have the substantive effect of improving our city by the year 2020. This project began in October of 2010 when the exhibitions co-curator David Robinson, AIA of Robinson Architecture Workshop and Co-Chairman of AIA Houstons Urban Design Committee began reaching out to Houstons urban design community, neighborhood organizations, schools, and all other interested organizations requesting visions of how Houston can be reshaped to improve mobility, air and water quality, green spaces, neighborhood quality, and growth management. The goal of tenyearstoclarity.org, is to ensure that Houston continues to develop as a high quality place to live and serves as a reference for other developing communities. More about David Robinson, AIA David Robinson, AIA is principal architect and owner Robinson Architecture Workshop and has been an active member of AIA Houston since joining in 1996. He has contributed to several committees and served as chairman for the Urban Design Committee for the past several years. Robinson was awarded an AIA Houston Presidential Citation in 2011 for his dedication and leadership in founding AIA Houstons Ten Years to Clarity program. He also dedicates significant time serving the Houston community as president of several civic organizations including: the Super Neighborhood Alliance, Neartown/Montrose Super Neighborhood #24, Park Civic Association and is a former member of the Houston Planning Commission. He earned his Master of Architecture degree from Rice University, after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from Yale University. More about Camilo Parra Camilo Parra, AIA is principal architect and owner of award winning Houston architecture and development firm PARRA DESIGN GROUP. He has been an active member of AIA Houston since 1997 serving on multiple committees and as a Board member. Parra has been recognized by AIA for his contributions to the architecture profession and was awarded a National Young Architect Award in 2009. He received the Texas Society of Architects Award for Young Professional Achievement in 2009, and in 2008 received AIA Houstons Ben Brewer Young Architect Award. His work has also been featured in Architectural Digest, Texas Architect, and Texas Magazine. Architecture Center Houston is located downtown at 315 Capitol, Suite 120 on the corner of Bagby and Capitol. Parking is available in the Hobby Center parking garage located across the street with entrances on Rusk and Walker. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm and Fridays from 9am to 3pm. ArCH exhibitions are free and open to the public.
